Currently, Tarragona city has 1,973 properties with a tourist license (source: Tarragona Municipal Tourist Office). Because many people see how lucrative this is, the number of permits and apartments intended for tourism has increased enormously in recent months, and the municipality of Tarragona is now putting a stop to this. Rentals for tourism have increased significantly since 2018, especially in Part Alta, the M\u00f3ra-Tamarit and the Barris Mar\u00edtims. In the first two cases, the number of tourist homes in the district represents more than 12% of the total number of homes registered in the land registry. As for the Part Baixa and Serrallo (fishermen’s district), this percentage is almost 9%. These levels are significantly higher than the urban average, which is 2.79%, taking into account that in some places in Tarragona their presence is practically negligible.<\/p>\n
